FBLA stands for Future Business Leaders of America. It is a professional student organization that is available in a majority of schools across America. FBLA Chapter #11044 was chartered at Arthur A. Richards Junior High School in 1988 by then Business Teacher and FBLA Adviser, Maria Thomas-Lewis.

FBLA has three main aspects

Social- We get to know each other and have lots of fun
Professional- Where we learn new things about business, attend conferences, and work on job skills.
Community Service- Where we give back something to the community that has given us so much.

To accomplish these goals, FBLA-PBL holds conferences and seminars; sponsors a competitive awards program; produces national publications; and provides scholarships, programs, and other services for its members.

For more infomation on FBLA please visit the national website at http://www.fbla-pbl.org/ .

Music Education classes that are available at Arthur A. Richards Jr. High School are beginning band, intermidiate band, and beginning chorus. Students are afforded the opportunity to learn different band instruments. Throughout this course, students are able to perform at many community events and in school activities. Here at Arthur A. RIchards Jr. High School, we just started a quadrille program. Within this program, students get an opportunity to learn more about our rich and historical Virgin Islands culture. Mr. Erick Wille is the band director here at Arthur A. Richard Jr. High School.

The Arthur A. Richards Jr. High School Steel Orchestra has been in existance for approximately 14 years. Participation in the Steel Orchestra has had a positive influence on our students. The Steel Orchestra also promotes a image of the school in the community. The efforts of our students and instuctor have allowed our school to be very well represented at events such as Pan Fest, Crucian Christmas Parades, Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority Earth Day Parade, and much more. Our school, faulty, and staff enjoy the entertainment of the Steel Orchestra  during in-house activities such as Queen Pagent, Virgin Islands History Month Program, and Promotional Exercise. The Steel Orchestra coordinator Ms. Annette Gordon and instuctor Mr. Lauchland Williams continuously expose our students to different venues in the community.

The Arthur A. Richards Spirit Team consists of cfemale students who are members of the following categoires: cheerleading, dance, majorettes, and flags.  The intention is to invoke school spirit on campus and out in the community.  The school mascot, the Sun, brightens and SHINES the school and the community it serves.  Go SuUNS!!hool spirit is the feeling you get as you step into the stadium for your school's homecoming football game.

The letters “FFA” stand for Future Farmers of America. These letters are a part of our history and our heritage that will never change. But FFA is not just for students who want to be production farmers; FFA also welcomes members who aspire to careers as teachers, doctors, scientists, business owners and more.  Today, the National FFA Organization remains committed to the individual student, providing a path to achievement in premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. FFA continues to help the next generation rise up to meet those challenges by helping its members to develop their own unique talents and explore their interests in a broad range of agricultural career pathways. So today, we are still the Future Farmers of America developing Future Biologists, Future Chemists, Future Veterinarians, Future Engineers and Future Entrepreneurs of America, too. The local chapter number is #VI0011

Interact gives students ages 12-18 the chance to make a real difference while having fun. Every Interact club carries out two service projects a year: one that helps their school or community and one that promotes international understanding.

Clubs meet at least twice a month and are sponsored by their local Rotary club. When you sponsor an Interact club, you’re helping young people:

  • connect with community leaders

  • develop leadership skills

  • make international connections

  • discover more opportunities to connect with Rotary, including Rotaract, RYLA, and Youth Exchange

The National Junior Art Honor Society (NJAHS) is designed specifically for middle school and junior high school students (grades 6-9). In 1989, the National Art Education Association began the National Junior Art Honor Society program to inspire and recognize students who have shown an outstanding ability and interest in art and to generate interest in art programs at the secondary level and beyond. Local Chapter number is #605.

The National Junior Honor Society is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1929. Today, it is estimated that more than one million students participate in official Honor Society activities. NHS and NJHS chapters are found in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, many U.S. territories, and Canada. Chapter membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments, but challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service. Local Chapter number is #41594
